Lawyers often cross the line into Extortion.

Lawyers often cross the line into Extortion.

We all understand that our legal system is contentious, and that lawyers should argue their clients case will zeal. But outside of court, lawyers often engage in extortion, intimidation and blackmail.

It’s O.K. for an attorney to do some saber rattling – telling the opposing party that they will sue unless their demands are met. But not always. Sometimes the demands are unlawful. And that can lead to extortion.

My experience is the when an attorney extorts, it can land them, and their client in legal trouble. Such is the case with these cases:

Attorney extortion risks clients eight million dollar estate

Michigan multi-millionaire mutilates mother then holds corpse hostage to extort family – blocks burial
